The Symphony Club of Waterford is dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of the Southeast by bringing world-class musical performances to the heart of the community. Our mission is to democratise access to the arts, ensuring that the power and beauty of live orchestral and classical music are available to everyone.
Our mission
We exist to make orchestral music a living, local part of Waterford’s cultural life. That means presenting concerts that are artistically ambitious, easy to attend, and welcoming for people who have loved classical music for years—as well as those experiencing it for the first time.
We believe that access to great music should not depend on prior knowledge, social networks, or financial means. Live performance is at its best when it is shared, and our work is guided by the idea that the arts thrive when they belong to everyone.
Our core values
Artistic excellence
We curate a diverse programme of high-calibre performances, featuring established virtuosos, leading ensembles, and emerging talent. Each season is designed to offer variety—familiar masterpieces, new discoveries, and special programmes that make every concert feel distinct.
Community accessibility
By hosting concerts in familiar local venues, we break down the “formality barrier” often associated with classical music. We aim to make the experience straightforward: clear information, clear ticket links, and a welcoming atmosphere on the night.
Affordability
We believe financial constraints should never be a hurdle to cultural enrichment. Our pricing is structured to keep concerts accessible, and where possible we support reduced-price options so that young people and families can attend and build a lifelong connection with live music.
Connecting Waterford through music
From intimate chamber recitals to grand symphonic showcases, the Club serves as a cultural hub for Waterford. We don’t just host concerts; we create shared experiences that resonate within our historic city, strengthening community ties and fostering appreciation for music across generations.
Concert nights bring people together—friends, families, students, and visitors—around something they can feel in real time: the energy of live performance. For many, it is also an opportunity to discover new composers, hear instruments up close, and experience a venue in a completely different way.
What we present
Our programme typically includes a mix of orchestral concerts and special events across the season. Depending on the year, this can include:
- Seasonal orchestral concerts featuring major repertoire and audience favourites.
- Guest ensembles and soloists visiting Waterford for special programmes.
- Themed events that introduce classical music through familiar touchpoints (e.g., film or celebration concerts).
- Community-facing performances that encourage new audiences to attend.
We publish event details with the essentials—date, time, venue, and ticket links—so that planning your visit is simple and stress-free.
How you can support SCOW
The continued success of the Symphony Club of Waterford depends on the people who attend, share, and support our concerts. There are several ways to help:
- Attend a concert and bring a friend who hasn’t been to one before.
- Share our events on social media—every share helps us reach new audiences.
- Join as a supporter if membership options are available in the current season.
- Partner with us if you represent a local organisation that wants to support culture in Waterford.
If you’d like to get involved, collaborate, or ask a question about what we do, please contact us—someone from the Club will get back to you as soon as possible.
